Introduction

The primary purpose of the role is to successfully develop, coordinate, and grow a portfolio of SME clients, with a strong focus on teamwork. A key part of the role is to work with internal and external stakeholders, other specialists, and advisors to identify new revenue opportunities from existing clients and prospects. Design, plan, formulate and coordinate strategies to achieve SME business goals. Monitor proper utilization of investment facilities in SME accounts and maintain the quality of risk assets and ensure periodic review of the facilities. Applying subject expertise in evaluating business operations and processes. Identifying areas where technical solutions would improve business performance. Consulting across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge. Achieving business sales target, i.e., loans or deposits target. Expand the clientele base through networking, business referrals, constant follow-up, cold - calls & etc. Attend to all customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints on bank products and services.

Job description

• Track, analyze, and direct in conjunction with the Retail Sales Lead SME sales performance.
• Preparing of reports (EMT, Board, Bank of Botswana, NBFIRA, Regulatory Reports)
• Gather and compile SME data for retail management forums.
• Through the Business Development Office, work with external stakeholders to understand and investigate feedback into the service/function/product provided.
• In conjunction with the Retail Business Analyst, use data modeling practices to analyze findings and create suggestions for strategic and operational improvements and changes in the SME space.
• Identify the processes and systems required to introduce recommendations.
• Gain agreement, usually from senior management, of the best method of introducing recommendations to the business.
• Be the main driver behind continuous enhancements of SME/ SMME CVP’s
• Manage and drive critical stakeholder Partnerships such as CEEP sponsoring entities. 
• Responsible for developing and maintaining credible relationships with clients at appropriate levels through reliable, proactive service delivery and the skilful application of specialist knowledge.
• Produce written documentation to support work, report on findings and to present to stakeholders when necessary.
• Support the branch network in solving challenges from the SME portfolio.

Minimum requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
  2. COP Long & Short
  3. At least Eight (8) years of Banking experience within the SME or business development and sales space.
  4. 3 years in management level
•    Exposure/experience in strategy execution would be an advantage 
•    Exposure/experience in project management.
•    People management experience.
•    Extensive sales/marketing experience. Deep knowledge of the SME banking value proposition with specific focus to the top end of SME market.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of competitor offerings and strategies to target SME market.
•    Thorough understanding of the local business banking market.
•    Knowledge of strategic planning models, principles and practices, including market segmentation models and segmentation theory.
•    Exposure in Financial Management or data analytics would be an advantage
